Motorcycle owners should always be prepared for anything, especially for any roadside repairs and troubles. From a basic flat tire to engine trouble, anything unexpected can happen. This is why aside from regular maintenance, you should never leave home without the following tools. Tire Compressor/Tire Inflator
Aside from the tire pressure gauge that tells you if your tires are under or over-inflated, you need a tire inflator that will fill the tires with the right amount of air. You can use a manual pump or invest in a more expensive option called a tire compressor. A tire compressor will inflate tires and will also power lifts and other types of tools. Standard Fasteners It would help if you had a variety of fasteners handy on the road. Motorcycles may have a variety of fasteners, including SAE or metric standards. Traditional motorcycles have one type of fastener, while bikes with after-market parts and accessories may come with SAE and metric fasteners. A Set of Wrenches & Screwdrivers Your toolbox must have a complete set of wrenches. A set usually has wrenches with boxed ends and open ends. Remember that open ends are used to pressure the flattened parts of fasteners and produce the strongest pressure. A motorcycle toolbox should also come with flat and Phillips screwdrivers and screwdrivers with long and short handles. Choose screwdrivers with magnetic tips, so it's easier to lift screws out of their holes. Motorcycle Stand Sometimes, a side stand is not enough to perform repairs or maintenance work. It’s easier to do so when the bike is upright. A center stand is handy to have around but make sure to buy one that supports your bike’s design and model. Oil Pan An oil catch pan will hold used oil and debris during an engine oil change. The pan should easily fit under your bike under the drain plug and filter. If you want to recycle engine oil, you can use an oil pan that also works as an oil storage container. You can purchase this kind of oil pan from motorcycle accessories stores. Conclusion With the right tools in your arsenal, you can conquer any problem you may encounter on the road. You will also feel more confident riding your bike, knowing you have a good set of motorcycle tools to back you up. It is also better to have your motorcycle insured. Thanks for pointing out that we should have the important tools before hitting the road since anything unexpected can happen. My husband and I will be going on a road trip next weekend to relax and unwind so this is helpful. We are also hoping to find towing services on Friday that we can call in case we need roadside assistance during our trip.
