Riding a motorcycle is one of the best and most efficient ways of exploring new places. It is also flexible and not as expensive as when you are using a car or RV. However, long motorcycle rides require a lot of research, planning, and preparation. You must learn about your destination in advance in order to have a safe and fruitful trip. More importantly, you should know your motorcycle's fuel range and limitations. In addition, you should consider bringing along these things with you.
Proper Riding Gear
Helmets, riding boots, gloves, padded jackets, and a reflective vest are among the things that you should bring along on a long motorbike ride. You should not compromise safety; that is why you should bring along your protective gear. Make sure that they fit comfortably and that they are not too tight or they will put you in danger of suffocation. Also, wear something that is suited to the weather especially if you are going away overnight or for a number of days.
Always plan what type and quality of clothes you should bring. This should depend on how long you are going to be away. Choose less bulky clothes in order to save space. Also, bring along a pair of shorts and sando in case you have decided to go to the beach. Besides, bring along more clothing like an extra jacket if you are going to a cold place.
Toiletries, Food, and Water
Bring minimal toiletries such as your toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, and a small piece of soap. You may forget about your alcohol and perfume unless you insist. Also, dehydration could be an issue for you so bring along at least 1 liter of water. Also, bring along a power bar or any food that does not spoil too soon.
Cellphone, Money, and Spare Keys
Your only way out of an emergency is your mobile phone, and its charger, so do not forget to bring them along. Do not forget your power banks too. Cash will also solve many of your problems although it is not advisable to bring all your credit cards with you. Lastly, do not forget your spare keys just in case something happened to the original ones.
Do this especially if you are on maintenance medicine. You should know that not all drugstores sell them. You should also bring with you a wound-dressing kit. This may come in handy even if you experience minor scratches.
Some Final Words
There are many things that you can bring with you on a long motorcycle ride. You can also bring along GPS, maps, and Bluetooth connections although these are optional. The most important thing is that you should bring the essentials and make sure it will not cause you excess weight that may endanger your balance while driving.
